I'm April and I'm so glad to have you visit my blog.
I started this blog years ago, before kids and when I was just starting my career as a personal chef. I blogged about food, recipes, and restaurants. I have my own personal chef business (Modern Gourmet) and though things have slowed down a bit since having kids, I still love to cater for my clients and cook and bake at home. I also love trying new restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries and pretty much anything to do with good food.
Before my daughter was born I thought it would be fun to sew her a dress. I remember sitting on the ground, cutting out the pattern, so uncomfortable, but excited about making something for her. And I sewed a few more things after that. I got pregnant with my son and had the overwhelming urge to create. So I began sewing even more for my daughter, son and gifts for friends. And now, I can't stop!
My grandmother and mother taught me how to sew a little when I was young. But the majority of what I know now has been learned from the online world and through indie sewing patterns and tutorials. My grandmother worked at Mattel and she designed clothes for Barbie as well as other dolls. She had an incredible sewing space and I loved going to her house and looking at all the beautiful fabric. She and my mom both made me clothes and I still remember each piece they made. I wish my grandmother was still around, I would love to get advise from her and just have her sew along with me.
I live in Los Angeles and I'm married to the love of my life (going on 15 years!). We are incredible blessed to have the most adorable 3 year old daughter and the most precious 9 month old son.
I try to blog as often as I can but having two little ones makes it difficult to blog with frequency. So a lot of my posts and pictures will be from my phone. And when I get a chance, I will actually use the nice camera for pictures!
Have a great day!
