Today I'm so excited to share a skirt that has been on my mind to sew for a long time. I was able to test the Betty Skirt by Shaffer Sisters and it has been Miette's go to skirt so when I was asked to be on the tour and sew another skirt for her, I said yes!Mustang fabric from Cotton + Steel I knew it was meant to be. There are 4 different style options for the Betty skirt pattern but this time around I sewed the basic gathered skirt and I altered the yoke. The yoke is inspired after the deep yokes and pleated skirts of the 1920’s so it is pretty high. Miette doesn't like anything touching her belly button so I needed to make a shorter yoke. Luckily, the pattern provides instructions for how to alter it and it was so easy!
The mustard mustang skirt and this shetland flannel cape are a match made it heaven, don't you think?
To go with the skirt I made a navy blue skipper top (pattern by Sew Much Ado). I also made a size 6 and used the cuff and banded neckline options. And for fun, I made this removable peter pan collar. This collar took longer to make that the top! But it is so cute and it has gold metallic bias tape! I'm in love.
Etsy store (expires Noveber 16, 2014). And I can't wait to see all the different versions of this skirt that will be popping up the next few weeks.
Here are the other Betty skirts I made. The first is a pleated version with the regular yoke and the second is a basic gathered version with an adjusted yoke. She wears the gathered version with blue hearts all the time.
